Shorty’s Valve Stem Tool

My Grandpa Shorty built this tool 65 years ago, while working at the Maple Leaf Service Station way up in Saskatchewan. It worked so well he carried it in his pocket up until the day he died. Fast forward 65 years and I have used this tool for 20+ years both personally and in my shop. Even though I have other options, I always find myself going back to this one. Sometimes you need a heavy touch to use it, and the design means you can grab a wrench to help. It’s easy to forget it in your pocket, yet so cheap you don’t care if you lose it. This tool is an example of simplicity, and a reminder that sometimes the best solution comes from the simplest places.
